As the Chief of Communications and External Affairs, Lisa Reilly is responsible for creating and executing a communications strategy that advances MHRP’s mission. She oversees a team of communications specialists who partner closely with program staff and partners to develop audience-specific, effective communications.
Lisa Reilly joined MHRP in 2008 to establish a new Communications Department. In addition to directing all public affairs and internal communications activities, she helps lead strategic planning and acts as a liaison with research sponsors, collaborators and international partners. Prior to joining MHRP, Ms. Reilly was the Communications Director at HJF for 16 years.
Ms. Reilly helps tailor complex medical research into clear and effective messages for diverse audiences, increasing transparency about research and sharing results widely.
She has worked with many private and public stakeholders on complex public announcement around clinical trial results and major research findings, including leading the RV144 Thai vaccine study communications. She serves on several international communications working groups and actively works with communications and community engagement staff at our clinical research sites in Africa and Thailand. Ms. Reilly has trained many researchers in the US and internationally in message development, presentation skills, media engagement and crisis communications.
