MHRP Principal Deputy Col. Jerome Kim has won the 2013 John Maher Award for Research Excellence from the Department of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University (USU). The award recognizes Col. Kim's role in the 2012 NEJM publication describing the analysis of immunological correlates from the RV144 trial, along with his contributions to the USU Department of Medicine, where he is a professor.
The award is given to two outstanding researchers whose research represents a significant contribution to the understanding, remedy or prevention of disease, or an innovative contribution to medical education.
