Dr. Josphat Kosgei, MBChB, Ph.D., Principal Investigator and Infectious Disease Physician at HJFMRI Kenya. Dr. Kosgei is based at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and is involved in various fields of tropical and infectious diseases including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, Ebola and polio. He also participates in the South Rift Valley PEPFAR program research activities, including the African Cohort Study (AFRICOS).
Dr. Kosgei is particularly engaged in vaccine development studies including managing research protocols, training staff, mentorship, medical consultation and clinical management. He is the PI for the RV460 comparative adjuvant HIV vaccine trial.
Dr. Kosgei obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Moi and his Master’s degree in Infectious Diseases from the University of London. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases from the University of Nairobi.
